Detail of outcome

Having considered the feedback and evidence, government has decided to close the export tariff alongside the generation tariff. This means that the scheme will close in full to new applications after 31 March 2019, subject to the time-limited extensions and grace period detailed in this response.

Government has also decided to bring the net costs of metered export into the levelisation process. A detailed response on the replacement of generating equipment will be published in due course.

Visit legislation.gov.uk for the Feed-In Tariffs (Closure etc) Order 2018.

  • manufacturers
  • energy suppliers
  • community groups
  • consultants
  • local authorities
  • individuals

Most respondents were opposed to the closure of the export tariff at the same time as the generation tariff, hence the proposed closure and exception arrangements.
