Consultation description

Proposed changes to legislation to improve the collection of light dues to:

  • enhance regulatory clarity
  • ensure exemption criteria are transparent
  • reduce administrative burdens and costs
  • modernise regulatory arrangement and drafting

The changes do not alter the existing system for the collection of light dues, which are paid by vessels calling at UK and Irish ports and pay for the work of the General Lighthouse Authorities (GLAs). The GLAs are:
