Detail of outcome

Due to the impact the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic has had on the aviation industry since the original application, Bristol Airport has informed Department for Transport (DfT) that it has withdrawn its request and will resubmit as traffic levels recover. 

DfT will continue to engage with Bristol Airport on this issue. Interested parties seeking to discuss this matter with us may email SlotConsultation@dft.gov.uk.

Summary

Proposal to designate Bristol Airport as a 'coordinated' airport and appointment of Airport Coordination Limited as the coordinator.

Consultation description

Proposal for Bristol Airport to be:

1. designated a ‘coordinated’ airport, a status reserved for congested airports
2. have Airport Coordination Limited as designated coordinator should the original application be approved

The coordinated designation has currently been given to:

• London Heathrow
• Gatwick
• Stansted
• London City
• Luton
• Manchester
• Birmingham
• Bristol (effective for summer seasons only during 23:00 to 06:59 hours)
