Abstract

Part 1 of this technical report is a review of available information relating to the Mauritian Banks Fishery. It covers: Geography, hydrology, climate; Historical development of the Mauritian Bank Fishery; Species composition; Data Collection; Catch and effort data; Biology/population demographic parameters; Productivity and resource assessments; Economics of the fishery; and Legislation/management measures. Part 2 contains spatial analyses of Indian Ocean banks comparing sites representing a gradient of fishing pressure.
