Croatia National Report

TI Croatia team members selected the health sector as the sector in which this project would be implemented. The health sector was chosen based on the agreement of the team members that health services for the poor are in the most urgent need of improvement in terms of both quality and transparency of the work of public health institutions. As the poor are highly susceptible to contraction of chronic diseases due to their living conditions, transparent and efficient work of public health institutions, namely hospitals, is crucial for this particularly vulnerable group. The study focused on a hospital in the city of Zagreb, selected due to its advanced level of computerization of services and on-going ICT projects. This report describes the selection and development of a tool (through a phone line) to monitor complaints about hospital waiting lists.
