Monthly numbers of company insolvencies in the first nine\nmonths of 2026 were lower than the average of the preceding three\nyears.</p>\n  </li>\n  <li>\n    <p>Company insolvencies in September 2026 consisted of 341 compulsory\nliquidations, 1,420 creditors’ voluntary liquidations (CVLs), 102\nadministrations and 19 company voluntary arrangements (CVAs). There\nwere no receivership appointments. The number of CVLs was similar to\nAugust 2026 and lower than in September 2025, while compulsory\nliquidations were higher than in both months. Administrations were 44%\nlower than in August 2026, and 20% lower than in September 2025.\nAdministration numbers have been volatile in recent months, driven by\nover 250 connected companies in the Real Estate sector entering\nadministration between March and August 2026.</p>\n  </li>\n  <li>\n    <p>One in 200 companies (at a rate of 49.9 per 10,000 companies) entered\ninsolvency between 1 October 2025 and 30 September 2026. This was a\ndecrease from the 52.8 per 10,000 companies that entered insolvency in\nthe 12 months ending 30 September 2025. Insolvency rates are\ncalculated on a 12-month rolling basis as a proportion of the total\nnumber of companies on the effective register. The 12-month rolling\nrates show longer term trends and reduce the volatility associated\nwith estimates based on single months.</p>\n  </li>\n  <li>\n    <p>While the insolvency rate has increased since the lows seen in 2020\nand 2021, it remains much lower than the peak of 113.1 per 10,000\ncompanies seen during the 2008-09 recession. This is because the\nnumber of companies on the effective register has more than doubled\nover this period.</p>\n  </li>\n</ul>\n</div>","change_history":[{"note":"First
