Following the most recent STATS19 review (PDF, 296KB) contributory factors (CFs) are being replaced by new road safety factors (RSFs), in some police forces from late 2023 onwards. This has resulted in a break in the time series for some of the data. As a result, we are presenting all data using the RSF specification, but separating out data initially recorded as CFs. We do not recommend directly combining this data. As a result, RAS0705 and RAS0706 have been temporarily withdrawn. Further details can be found in our road safety factors guidance.
