id=\"how-much-youll-be-paid\">How much you’ll be paid </h2>\n\n<p>£8.09 per metre (m).</p>\n\n<h2 id=\"how-this-item-benefits-the-environment\">How this item benefits the environment</h2>\n\n<p>Protecting woodland, including newly coppiced woodland, from deer browsing supports a wider woodland management project.</p>\n\n<h2 id=\"where-you-can-use-this-item\">Where you can use this item </h2>\n\n<p>You can use this item on either:</p>\n\n<ul>\n  <li>newly created woodland</li>\n  <li>existing woodland</li>\n  <li>woodland where you have a <a href=\"https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/woodland-tree-health-grants-2026\">woodland tree health agreement or plan</a>\n</li>\n</ul>\n\n<p>If this item is used on an existing woodland site, the management plan needs to identify that deer are present on the site in large numbers and are a threat to it.</p>\n\n<p>You cannot use this item on newly planted woodland supported by <a href=\"https://www.gov.uk/countryside-stewardship-grants/supply-and-plant-tree-te4\">TE4: Supply and plant tree</a> or <a href=\"https://www.gov.uk/countryside-stewardship-grants/supplement-for-use-of-individual-tree-shelters-te5\">TE5: Supplement for the use of tree shelters</a>.</p>\n\n<h2 id=\"what-you-must-do-to-use-this-item\">What you must do to use this item</h2>\n\n<p>You must install a fence, ensuring it:</p>\n\n<ul>\n  <li>protects newly coppiced woodland</li>\n  <li>meets the specifications set out in the table below and in the Forestry Commission practice note: <a rel=\"external\" href=\"https://www.forestresearch.gov.uk/publications/recommendations-for-fallow-roe-and-muntjac-deer-fencing-new-proposals-for-temporary-and-reusable-fencing/\">Recommendations for fallow, roe and muntjac deer fencing</a>\n</li>\n  <li>is erected as soon as possible after coppicing has taken place and before stools have started to grow again</li>\n  <li>has a line that’s smooth enough and clear of debris so the bottom of the fence sits flush with the ground</li>\n  <li>is maintained so deer cannot enter the land until the coppice re-growth is large enough that it no longer needs protecting</li>\n  <li>meets the right specifications for the species of deer present</li>\n</ul>\n\n<p>Specifications for the height and mesh size of temporary fences</p>\n\n<table>\n  <thead>\n site with your adviser.</p>\n\n<h2 id=\"evidence-you-must-keep\">Evidence you must keep </h2>\n\n<p>You must keep photographs of the completed work and provide with your claim.</p>\n\n<p>You must also keep and provide on request:</p>\n\n<ul>\n  <li>receipted invoices or bank statements where a receipted invoice is unavailable</li>\n  <li>a Forestry Commission plan approval letter</li>\n  <li>a Forestry Commission woodland management plan, if applicable</li>\n  <li>any consents or permissions connected with the work</li>\n</ul>\n\n<p>Read the record keeping and site visit requirements in the
