You must read the <a href=\"https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/higher-tier-capital-grants-2026\">Higher Tier Capital Grants 2026 guidance</a> to understand the rules and how to apply.<br><br>\nIf you’re applying for this item as part of a Countryside Stewardship Higher Tier (CSHT) application, you must read the <a href=\"https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/countryside-stewardship-higher-tier-csht\">CSHT applicant’s guide</a> to understand the rules and how to apply.</p>\n</div>\n\n<h2 id=\"how-much-youll-be-paid\">How much you’ll be paid </h2>\n\n<p>Up to 80% of actual costs.</p>\n\n<h2 id=\"how-this-item-benefits-the-environment\">How this item benefits the environment</h2>\n\n<p>Improving grazing management means there will be less damage to sensitive habitats.</p>\n\n<h2 id=\"where-you-can-use-this-item\">Where you can use this item </h2>\n\n<p>You can use this item with the agreement of Natural England alongside a management action or option and if either:</p>\n\n<ul>\n  <li>you’re introducing a new management regime on the site</li>\n  <li>you need a substantial change in grazing management</li>\n  <li>livestock handling facilities are essential for carrying out the associated land management action or option</li>\n</ul>\n\n<p>You cannot use this item if:</p>\n\n<ul>\n  <li>existing handling facilities are available</li>\n  <li>the site is not grazed</li>\n  <li>it’ll damage peat exposures or other sensitive soils</li>\n  <li>it’ll lead to poaching (trampling) damage</li>\n  <li>it’ll damage historic or archaeological features</li>\n</ul>\n\n<h2 id=\"what-you-must-do-to-use-this-item\">What you must do to use this item</h2>\n\n<p>You must:</p>\n\n<ul>\n  <li>agree the specification with your Natural England adviser</li>\n  <li>provide at least 3 written quotations to complete the work including associated costings with your application</li>\n  <li>with your application provide a map of livestock facilities and storage locations where mobile facilities are used</li>\n  <li>agree the selected quotation with Natural England</li>\n  <li>complete the works to the agreed specification and timescale</li>\n  <li>put up permanent posts in the locations where mobile facilities will be used</li>\n</ul>\n\n<p>You should discuss and agree requirements that are specific to your site with your adviser. It’s not part of this item’s requirements. </p>\n\n<h3 id=\"constructing-livestock-handling-facilities\">Constructing livestock handling facilities</h3>\n\n<p>This item will typically pay for:</p>\n\n<ul>\n  <li>handling pens for cattle</li>\n  <li>holding pens and shedding race for sheep</li>\n</ul>\n\n<p>You can agree the design and location of the item with your adviser. This includes choosing a design and construction materials that blend in with the local landscape.</p>\n\n<p>When choosing a site, make sure:</p>\n\n<ul>\n  <li>there’s no damage to other features or
