Hazard

The product presents a high risk of fire as it has a poor internal build quality. The product had poor quality connections with wires soldered directly to the PCB, which also has no overcurrent protection. The transformer’s primary and secondary windings were found to be touching and the battery measured only 51% of its rated capacity.

The plug face did not meet the dimensional requirements of BS 1363 because the distance between the neutral pin and the outside edge was found to measure below the minimum requirements, posing a risk of electric shock.

The plug fuse does not meet the requirements of BS 1362 as it was identified as being a counterfeit fuse that does not contain a ballast, meaning it cannot provide the required protection under fault conditions. Some of the required documentation and markings were not present.

The product does not meet the requirements of the Supply of Machinery (Safety) Regulations 2008 or the Plugs & Sockets etc. (Safety) Regulations 1994.

Corrective action

The import has been rejected at the border and destroyed.

The listing has been removed by the online marketplace (Amazon).
