Updates to the Data Protection and Digital Information Bill

Changes to the bill and support available from the Department for Education (DfE).

DfE is aware of the planned changes to legislation in the Data Protection and Digital Information Bill.

The bill makes changes to the:

• UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR)
• Data Protection Act 2018
• Privacy and Electronic Communications (EC Directive) Regulations 2003

What these changes mean

The changes include clearer guidance on sharing data for safeguarding purposes. It will be easier for people who care for children and vulnerable people to understand the legal requirements of sharing data.
