Adult education budget (AEB) funding rules 2020 to 2021

Version 6: April 2021

This document sets out the updated position on:

  • the reconciliation threshold for ESFA grant funded AEB adult skills in the performance management section
  • the learning support section around the use of the individualised learner record and earning adjustment statement
  • qualifications that are added to the funding eligibility list for high value courses for school and college leavers and the National Skills Fund level 3 adult offer. These will only become eligible for funding from the publication date on GOV.UK.

  1. We have published version 6 of the adult education budget funding rules. You can find all the updates in the 'what's new section' of the guide.

  2. Updated version produced detailing changes to the National Skills Fund - level 3 adult offer and performance management arrangements for traineeships 2020 procurement

  3. We have updated the definition of unemployed (page 38) to reflect changes the Department for Work and Pensions have made to the take-home pay threshold for Universal Credit. We have also included in the glossary a definition of take-home pay.

  4. We have updated the Adult Education Budget funding rules for 2020 to 2021 to set out the updated position on traineeships, subcontracting, breaks in learning, learner support and performance management

  5. We have updated version 2 of the Adult education budget (AEB) funding rules 2020 to 2021, a summary of changes is outlined on page 84 of the updated document

  6. We have published version 1 of the AEB funding rules for 2020 to 2021. Version 1 contains new information on digital skills and a new section on the performance management rules.
