Food and drink is currently the UK’s largest manufacturing sector with a turnover of over £90 billion and the industry employing up to 400,000 workers. The demand for British food and drink products overseas is growing fast and a 15% increase in overseas sales occurred in the last two years as clear sign of the opportunities available to the British food sector.

Launch event

On Wednesday 23 October 2013, the UK Trade & Investment (UKTI) team at the British Embassy in Athens organised a launch event for 3 award winning British drinks at the British Residence, on behalf of Loch Katrine Consulting.

They included:

  • Edinburgh Gin
  • Aspall Suffolk Cyder
  • Sheep Dip Malt Whisky

The event was well attended and UKTI offered its valuable contacts and expertise in making sure that the brands were well presented to Greek consumers.

UKTI welcomes all business initiatives aiming at bringing distinguished British products closer to Greek consumers and showcasing the very best of what Britain has to offer.

British Ambassador John Kittmer welcomed the new award winning British entries to the Greek market as another great opportunity for the Embassy to give quality British produce an even higher profile in Greece.

The impressive rooms at the British Residence were arranged to accommodate 3 different tasting areas. Each room had its own brand, where experienced bar tenders navigated the guests through a rich journey of taste, ranging from the Highlands of Scotland to the beautiful scenery of Suffolk.
