  1. Update: the government’s plans for funding local authorities in the 2021 spring term and for the financial year 2021 to 2022.

  2. This guidance has been updated to set out the government’s plans for funding local authorities and childcare providers in the 2021 spring term – this is in section 1. The previously published guidance on early years funding is still valid until 31 December – this is in section 2. Section 2 has been updated to clarify that it refers to the period before the start of the 2021 spring term, and certain paragraphs have been removed to avoid duplication with other, more up to date guidance.

The previously published guidance on early years funding is still valid until the beginning of the autumn term – this is in section 2.
