This Trade and Agriculture Commission has ceased to operate and has been superseded by a new Trade and Agriculture Commission, which has a new role and membership.

TAC principles

After an introduction by the Chair, members of the Trade and Agriculture Commission (TAC) discussed the report’s principles as currently drafted. Members agreed it was important that this section of the report was integrated with the material that followed. They also indicated where the principles could be strengthened further, including the approach to trade with developing countries.

TAC recommendations

The Chair introduced the TAC’s draft recommendations and invited members to comment. Members again stressed the need to ensure alignment with other report sections and were keen to ensure the text captured TAC’s focus on achieving a level of ambition.

Additional items for discussion

TAC members discussed a number of additional items within specific topic areas to confirm collective agreement.

This included:

  • import policy
  • impact assessment
  • the environment
  • ethical trading
  • labelling
