River Thames waterways annual review: 1 April 2021 to 31 March 2022

Some of our best achievements delivered between 1 April 2021 and 31 March 2022. These are separated out into 4 areas of our business that we know our customers are most interested in. Although we cannot include all our achievements this gives our customers a quick highlight.

Boat registration

  • £4.2 million income
  • 16,053 boats registered
  • £49,000 more income from British Canoeing membership

Enforcement activity

  • 1,066 hours / 1,998 miles of patrols
  • 2,114 registrations checks
  • 2 successful prosecutions
  • 27 speed and wash warning notices

Lock sites

  • Resident Lock and Weir Keepers at all 45 locks
  • 24 Seasonal Relief Lock and Wier Keepers
  • 178 volunteers returned to lock sites
  • 2,148 volunteer days completed

Infrastructure

  • £9.5 million invested
  • 23 major projects delivered or developed
  • 45 wrecks and 1 car removed
  • 6 large shoals removed
