We have published the handbook in HTML for accessibility reasons.

Inspectors are now referred to as investigators throughout. ​

​Paragraph 29: clarified that a ​lead investigator will provide the responsible person with a ‘notice of inspection’. This sets out the details of the legal basis for inspection.

Updated the ‘Powers of entry’ section to provide more clarity on our powers.  
​ Expanded the ‘Outcomes at end of the inspection’ section to provide more information on what happens after an inspection.

Paragraph 48: made it clear that the lead investigator may also issue a warning notice at any time after the inspection if they have reasonable cause to believe that an unregistered independent school is being conducted.
