This guidance is about employing older workers and working past 50. It is aimed at:

  • older people who want to get back into work, or stay in work longer
  • employers, who benefit by employing older people

  1. Added a section titled 'Menopause and the workplace' to the 'Help and support for older workers' publication.

  2. Edited the 'What government is doing to help older workers' section to include information about '50 PLUS: Choices'. Added a link to the jobhelp website for tips on finding work at 50 plus.

  3. Updated 'Help and support for older workers'. Added further information under 'Guidance for employers' on flexible working, fuller working lives, the mid-life MOT, age discrimination and supporting older workers.

  4. Updated links to external resources and the references to what the government is doing.

  5. Updated guide to refer to current Business Champion for Older Workers and introduce more up-to-date signposting throughout. Removed PDF employer toolkit as information no longer current.

  6. Added general summary pamphlet of the employer toolkit.

  7. Updated the guidance with information about the 'Employer toolkit: guidance for managers of older workers'.
