Engagement index and other measures based on responses to the annual staff survey.

The people survey runs during October each year. Our 2017 response rate of 78%, 10 percentage points above the Civil Service average, gives us an excellent sample of views and opinions on a wide range of issues affecting everybody in the department.

The survey is part of the annual Civil Service Survey. It is the largest of its kind in Britain, involving over 200,000 staff from across the civil service.
