Gelatine and collagen intended for human consumption: model health certificates

Competent authorities of exporting countries should use the relevant model health certificate as a template to create a version exporters can apply for to export gelatine and collagen intended for human consumption to Great Britain, the Channel Islands or Isle of Man.

Gelatine and collagen intended for human consumption exported to Great Britain must be accompanied by the relevant health certificate. Exporters should read the guide on how to complete a health certificate.

Certificate GBHC430

Must be used from 30 April 2024 by all countries.

Model health certificate for placing on the market of gelatine intended for human consumption (Regulation 2019/628) (GEL).

Certificate GBHC431

Must be used from 30 April 2024 by all countries.

Model health certificate for placing on the market of collagen intended for human consumption (Regulation 2019/628) (COL).

Certificate GBHC432

Must be used from 30 April 2024 by all countries.

Model health certificate for placing on the market of raw materials for the production of gelatine and collagen intended for human consumption (Regulation 2019/628) (RCG).

Certificate GBHC433

Must be used from 30 April 2024 by all countries.

Model health certificate for placing on the market of treated raw materials for the production of gelatine and collagen intended for human consumption (Regulation 2019/628) (TRCG).

Certificate GBHC434

Must be used from 30 April 2024 by all countries.

Model health certificate for the transit, immediate transit or after storage, for raw materials or treated raw material for the production of collagen or gelatine for human consumption (Regulation 2016/759) (COL/GEL-T/S).

Certificate GBHC162

Use this certificate from 1 January 2021.

Model health certificate for gelatine derived from ruminant bones or pigskins, intended for human consumption, intended for dispatch from the United States.

Certificate GBHC163

Use this certificate from 1 January 2021.

Model health certificate for collagen derived from bovine hides and pigskins, intended for human consumption, intended for dispatch from the United States.

  1. All old versions of certificates have been removed.

  2. Attestation 'AH/A350 Animal requirements (storage)' in GBHC432 and GBHC433 has been renamed 'AH/P553 Product requirements'. Version history updated to reflect this change.

  3. We have updated certificates GBHC430, GBHX431, GBHC432, GBHC433 and GBHC434. We have also updated the ‘use from’ date for certificates GBHC430, GBHX431, GBHC432, GBHC433 and GBHC434. Use from date for EU changed to 31 January 2024. Use from date for non-EU countries changed to 30 April 2024.

  4. We have replaced all EU certificates ending in E with new certificates that can be used by all countries. EU countries must use the new certificates from 31 October 2023. Non-EU countries can continue using certificates ending in X or start using the new certificates. We will communicate the deadline for non-EU countries switching to the new certificates in due course.

  5. Updated certificate GBHC163. See version history for full details of changes.

  6. Certificates GBHC109E, GBHC110E, GBHC111E, GBHC112E and GBHC123E should be used from 31 December 2023.

  7. Updated certificates GBHC109X, GBHC110X, GBHC110E, GBHC111X, GBHC111E, GBHC112X, GBHC112E, GBHC123X and GBHC123E. The previous version of these certificates will continue to be accepted until 1 April 2023. See version history for full details of the changes.

  8. We've updated certificates GBHC109X, GBHC110X, GBHC111X, GBHC112X, GBHC123X, GBHC162 and GBHC163.

  9. Updated the following gelatine and collagen model health certificates: Collagen COL from non-EU countries (2019/628 GBHC110X) and Collagen COL from the EU (2019-628 GBHC110E).

  10. The following certificates will come into use on 1 November 2022: GBHC109E, GBHC110E, GBHC111E, GBHC112E and GBHC123E.

  11. Added a version history of changes to model health certificates.

  12. Changed the date that some of the forms should be used to 1 July 2022.

  13. Added new certificates for Gelatine GEL from non-EU countries and Gelatine GEL from the EU.

  14. Edited the dates for all health certificates that were previously to be used by 1 April 2021. The following certificates will now come into use from 1 October 2021: UK-HC-109-E, UK-HC-110-E, UK-HC-111-E, UK-HC-112-E, UK-HC-123-E
