Details

The World Health Organization (WHO) published revised air quality guidelines (AQGs) for pollutants in ambient air in September 2021 (WHO, 2021).

The new AQGs for particulate matter (PM) and nitrogen dioxide (NO₂) are substantially lower than the previous (2005) guidelines. In response to the publication of the AQGs, COMEAP made some observations in the hope that they will be useful in informing air quality policy in the UK.
