Details

The Clean Growth Strategy (CGS) sets out our commitment to enable businesses to improve their energy efficiency by at least 20% by 2030.

This innovation competition offers up to £6 million of funding for innovative solutions that reduce transaction costs through economies of scale of via harmonised and simple practices that encourage the take up of energy efficiency by SMEs.

This competition will help address some of the key market failures faced by SMEs such as:

  • lack of economies of scale
  • high upfront capital costs
  • high transaction costs
  • difficulty accessing finance

The competition closed to applications on 8 May 2019.

Phase 1 (1 August 2019 to December 2019)

14 projects were selected to receive Phase 1 funding to develop feasibility studies for their solutions. 8 of these solutions progressed to Phase 2.

Phase 2

In February 2020 we awarded 8 contracts for Phase 2 for projects to further develop and trial their solutions in the market. Phase 2 will complete in March 2021. The successful organisations are:
