These draft regulations have been prepared by the Ministry of Defence to accompany the Armed Forces (Service Complaints and Financial Assistance) Bill. They have been published now to help understanding of how the overall legislative regime is intended to work when it comes into force. A number of important issues need to be resolved, as indicated in the drafts, before these regulations can be completed.
The draft regulations have not yet been subject to any detailed consultation, including with the Service Complaints Commissioner. That process will be undertaken during the passage of the bill and the government will take into account any changes before final versions of the regulations are laid before Parliament for consideration in due course. No further draft regulations will be published during the passage of the bill.
