Matt Thurstan
Biography
Matt Thurstan is Director General, Chief Financial Officer at the Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities.
Matt was previously, from August 2020 to September 2021, Director General, Chief Financial Officer at the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government.
Matt joined MHCLG from My Civil Service Pensions (MyCSP), where he was the Chief Executive for 4 years. He has previously held a number of financial leadership positions at the Department for Work and Pensions, most recently as the Director for their outsourced employment programmes.
Prior to this, Matt held a number of roles in the private sector and qualified as a Chartered Accountant whilst working at Deloitte.

The Chief Financial Officer leads DLUHC’s finance and analytical teams and is responsible for the department’s commercial and digital functions.
