The Rt Hon Lord Marland
Biography
Lord Marland was appointed Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for Intellectual Property in September 2012, until January 2013. He is a Conservative member of the House of Lords.
Education
He was educated at Shrewsbury School.
Political career
Lord Marland was Opposition Whip and Opposition Spokesperson for the Cabinet Office from 2009 to 2010. He was Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for the Department of Energy & Climate Change from May 2010 to September 2012.
Career outside of politics
Lord Marland was one of the founding directors of Jardine Lloyd Thomson plc, a multinational insurance business. He also founded the Jubilee insurance company at Lloyd’s of London. Lord Marland served as the Prime Minister’s Trade Envoy and Chairman of the UK Trade & Investment Business Ambassador Network until January 2014.
Personal life
Lord Marland is married to Penny, a probation officer. They have 4 children.
