Lord Davies of Gower

Biography

Lord Davies of Gower was appointed Parliamentary Under Secretary of State at the Department for Transport on 14 November 2023. He was Lord in Waiting from 22 September 2022 to 14 November 2023. Previously, he was elected as the Member of Parliament for Gower from 2015 to 2017, and as a member of the Welsh Assembly for Wales 2011-2015.

Before his political career, Lord Davies served as a police officer in London’s Metropolitan Police, where he was seconded to the UK National Crime Squad, and to the European Union as an advisor on combating organised crime. He spent several years living and working in eastern Europe helping to prepare EU candidate countries for accession.

Personal Life

Born and raised in Gower, Lord Davies was educated at Knelston County Primary School and Gowerton Boys’ Grammar School and has an honours degree in law. He is married to Gill and they have one son.
