David Jones

Biography

David Jones was appointed as Non-executive Chair of DVLA in February 2024.

Education

David went to school in Wrexham where he was born. He went on to study at Cardiff University where he graduated in Philosophy.

Career

David began his career as Chief Technology Officer for Cardiff-based Aspro Travel, before setting up a software company, Travelink, which he sold in 2005. For the next few years, David worked in consulting and as an Angel Investor, also chairing a number of technology companies.

In 2009 David joined the Cardiff and Vale NHS Board as a Non-executive Director and followed this with Non-executive Director roles for Qualifications Wales, the Aneurin Bevan NHS Board and the Welsh Revenue Authority.

In 2019 David was appointed to the board of Ofcom as the first non-executive member for Wales, stepping down in December 2023.

In 2022 David was appointed to the Board of Ofwat.

Other non-executive roles

David is currently a Non-executive Director at Ofwat and a co-founder and Director at CxB, a voluntary organisation improving the board oversight of cyber security.

Non-executive Chair

Responsible for bringing ideas and advice, both from his experience of the wider business world and from his perspective as a private citizen.
