Chris Gibb
Biography
Chris Gibb has worked in the rail industry for more than 40 years, with Board roles at train operators and Network Rail.
Chris joined British Rail from school as a clerk in 1981, aged 17. After 20 years of operational roles in England, Scotland and Wales, he was managing director, of Wales & Borders, before joining Virgin Cross Country in 2003 as managing director. In 2007 he became the chief operating officer at Virgin Trains, taking responsibility for Virgin West Coast safety, customer service and operations. Chris joined Network Rail as a non-executive director in 2013 and served on the main board until 2019.
Chris advised Transport for Wales on taking over train operations there in 2020/21 and moved to Scotland as chief executive of Scottish Rail Holdings in 2021/22, chairing ScotRail in 2022.
Chris joined the DOHL Board as a Non-Executive Director in 2020 and chairs the safety, health and environment committees at LNER, Northern and South Eastern.
