National Youth Conference of Turkmenistan on Climate Change 2023
Ashgabat hosted the National Youth Conference of Turkmenistan on Climate Change (LCOY) on November 3, 2023.
On November 3, Ashgabat hosted the National Youth Conference of Turkmenistan on Climate Change (LCOY) 2023. The event was organised by young eco-activists and SDG Ambassadors with the support of the British Embassy, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Office of the UN Resident Coordinator, the UAE Embassy, as well as experts from UNICEF, UNDP and UNRCCA.
The event was attended by young people aged 17 to 30 from all over Turkmenistan. Attendees included environmental activists, representatives of ministries and government departments, university students, volunteers from public organisations as well as experts in the field of climate change and environment protection. The conference raised awareness and educated hundreds of young people from Turkmenistan on vital environmental and climate issues and necessary solutions to them, encouraged youth to actively take part in Turkmenistan’s climate change efforts, and inspired them to take climate action in their communities. The conference also provided a platform for knowledge sharing and empowering local youth to further shape national and intergovernmental climate change policies.
The important event highlighted the role of the younger generation as a key partner in the fight against climate change, inspired young people of Turkmenistan to actively participate in projects to combat climate change and provided an opportunity to discuss and resolve key climate-related issues. The success of the National Youth Conference of Turkmenistan on Climate Change (LCOY) 2023 was a testament to the unwavering commitment of the young people of Turkmenistan to address the pressing challenges posed by the climate crisis. It is certain that the passion, innovation and determination of these young leaders will play a critical role in shaping a more sustainable future for Turkmenistan and the world.
