National plan for music education monitoring board

The board is made up of experts in music, school music teaching and curriculum design, music education beyond schools, music charities and the music industry.

Role

The scope of the board is to:

  • establish an impact framework for the national plan for music education, setting out how to monitor and measure its success, quantitatively and qualitatively
  • support and challenge the implementation of the plan and model music curriculum
  • champion the implementation of the model music curriculum

The Department for Education and Department for Culture, Media and Sport will retain ultimate responsibility for decisions on policy and implementation.

Membership

The chair is Veronica Wadley CBE (Baroness Fleet), who was the former chair of the panel for the national plan for music education and for the model music curriculum.
