Detail of outcome

This consultation sought views on a mandatory approach to ethnicity pay reporting.

Detail of feedback received

We received 321 responses:

  • 119 from individuals
  • 93 from private sector employers
  • 42 from public sector employers and non-profit organisations
  • 67 from representative bodies and interest groups

Respondents reported that they wanted to see alignment, where possible and appropriate, between mandatory ethnicity pay reporting and existing arrangements for gender pay reporting. There were mixed responses on the preferred metric to report ethnicity pay gaps.

In 2022 the government committed to publish guidance to employers on voluntary ethnicity pay reporting.
