You need a licence to import animal products into Northern Ireland.

How to apply

Download an application form the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (DARD) website.

You need to provide information on:

  • your details
  • consignor details
  • details of consignment
  • details of any previous licences you have been issued for similar products
  • product details

Applications must be received at least 10 working days before the date of the import.

You can choose to have the licence issued to either the exporting or importing premises.

Conditions

You must follow all other import controls, including inspections and ensuring the correct documentation accompanies the consignment.

Fines and penalties

You may be fined if you import animal products into Northern Ireland without a licence.
