Abstract

In this appendix, we first discuss the history of browser engines. We then provide additional technical details on two key topics, namely:

  • web compatibility (which is primarily determined by the browser engine)
  • Apple requiring browsers on iOS to use its WebKit browser engine (the ‘WebKit restriction’)
