Medstream Implantable Drug Pumps

Check pumps after MRI.

Article date: September 2010

Codman has issued a safety notice about their Medstream Implantable Drug Pumps. After MRI, 5 pumps have shut down, alarmed, and could not be reset using the physician control unit. However, they could be reset and restarted by Codman field support technicians using a technician key.

Clinicians are reminded that pumps need to be checked after any MRI exposure, and that support technicians should be contacted if there are effects that cannot be addressed using the physician control unit.
